Wholesome family activity
Tuesday, August 21, 2007
On Tuesday, August 14th. Jordyn and I with assistance from Chloe threw a farewell to Harry Potter party. It was raining, so some of the games that were planned could not be put into action. After playing a few games, dressed in "Harry Potter" attire, Brittany pushed me in the pool. That stimulated everyone else jumping in the pool and the canal! It was mega fun.

No more middle school
In a few days the old customs and traditions of Bak Msoa will fade from our minds and memories. My first thought was no more Mr. Golsin; a tragedy to say the least. My second thought was no more silly rules that serve no purpose, no more principals who baby the students, even though he/she is shorter than all of them. My third thought was, even though I am slow to admit, I had some great experiences: stealing ice cream with Clayton Parnell, dancing in a lightning storm with Valerie, Nina and Lindsay, spitting orange seeds at dance majors on the bus, the mornings Mr.Maloon provided us with herbal tea, and many more. I am upset summer is over, glad middle school is through, upset we will never return to Bak, nervous about Dreyfoos, excited about new memories.

Pioneer Trek (it's not that weird)
Trek Family
For those of you who don't know what a trek is, you're probably wondering why I am standing with people I don't know dressed as a pioneer. The early members of the Mormon church were persecuted all the way from New York to Illinois, finally reaching a safe haven in Salt Lake City, Utah. To pay homage to the pioneers members of our church participate in a 3 day, 24 mile trek. We pull our belongings in handcarts and are separated into families. We also have to prepare our own food. Believe it or not, the trek was a great experience.

EFY! In this house!
Okay- this is a sign.
My Favorite University- Yale
Yale University-Well, I went on this college tour with Yale being my favorite and I left with the same impression. We went during alumni week so we had open access on the campus. Yale definitely had the best dorms; however that doesn't matter to me, just my mother. Students have a real family environment your separated into houses your sophomore year and you're in that same house for the rest of your college experience. There are master teas once a moth where people from Bill Clinton to Monica Lewinsky visit. Each teacher is required to teach a freshman class, so the high budget teachers are not only used with seniors. If you would like to take a class or have a major that is not offered at Yale? Yale will create the class or major! Maybe that is why the estimated cost for one school year is $45,850.
I fit in
On the last day of school we headed straight from the Bak Middle School of the Arts award ceremony to New York City. New York City is where we began our college tour of the Northeast. In New York, we visited NYU, Julliard and Columbia. We happened to visit all of the colleges during allumni week so we heard firsthand accounts from students, allumni and teachers. Columbia's campus is gorgeous, and the resources are infinite (plus your in NYC!). Left-me at one of the libraries at Columbia.
